Celebrating the 20th Anniversary

The City of Lakes Loppet started in 2003 as a unique urban point-to-point cross-country ski race. Since then, the event has evolved and adapted to engage a growing community of outdoor enthusiasts. The Loppet Foundation is proud to host a winter festival that has events and races for all to enjoy. In celebration of the event’s 20th anniversary, The Loppet Foundation will be giving participants and spectators unique opportunities leading up to the festival and during festival weekend – more to be announced in the upcoming months.

Back in 2022 is the Luminary Loppet on Lake of the Isles! Attendees of the Luminary Loppet can walk, ski or snowshoe through a serene landscape of 1,200+ glowing ice luminaries in the heart of Minneapolis’ Uptown. After having to drastically scale back the event in 2021 held at Theodore Wirth Park, the Loppet Foundation is excited to again host this magical evening (and the organization’s largest fundraiser) on Lake of the Isles with a full set of luminary features and party.

About me

A person wearing a yellow helmet, sunglasses, and warm winter clothing smiles while outside in a snowy Minnesota landscape. They are pointing at something, perhaps one of the scenic mountain bike trails nearby, as the sun shines brightly overhead.

I’m Jan, the publisher of Minnesota Trails Magazine. I’m looking for that one trail, the next ride, a new discovery and other reasons to never sit still in Minnesota.
