Whether you're an adventurer, antiquer, foodie or historian, Minnesota's Mesabi Iron Range has the perfect activity for you.

Join the NorthStar Trail Travelers (NSTT) at their first event of 2024, a snowshoe/walk at Lake Maria State Park on February 10, 2024.
Two 3km trails will be available to walk or snowshoe. The Anderson Hill/Kettle Kame loop has quite a few hills and goes by a couple of small lakes. The trail will be hard packed for hiking and snowshoeing. The Bjorklund Trail is an out and back to the boat landing on Lake Maria and has a few minor hills.

Meet at the Trail Center, a heated building with a wood stove and flush toilets, perfect for whatever winter brings. Register between 10 am and 2pm and finish by 4 pm Fees range from $4-$9.

The trail center doubles as a warming area during ski season at Lake Maria State Park
Sloppy Joes and hot beverages will be available for a donation. Leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome, though not allowed in park buildings. Bring your own snowshoes or do the walk in winter boots. The park will also have a small selection of snowshoes for walkers to borrow. The event is weather dependent, so check the NSTT Facebook page or watch for an email alert for event change.

NorthStar Trail Travelers is a unique club that offers noncompetitive walking and snowshoe events primarily in Minnesota State Parks, trails, forests and recreation areas. NSTT has a formal partnership with the DNR State Parks and Trails to offer events in state parks each year. All events are open to the public and membership is not required to participate. NSTT is a chartered club with the American Volkssport Association (AVA), which is under the umbrella of the International Volkssports Verband (IVV).
