Soo Line West
The Western segment of the Soo Line Trail was dedicated in the summer of 2007 becoming one of the most remote and scenic paved non-motorized recreational trails in Minnesota.
This eight-mile section starts at the end of the Lake Wobegon Trail between Holdingford and Bowlus at the Stearns and Morrison County line, runs eight miles through the City of Bowlus, over the Blanchard Dam which crosses the Mississippi River and unto Hwy 10 just north of Royalton.
The 14 foot wide quiet, forested trail is mostly through wooded terrain with an occasional farm and wetland.
The City of Bowlus has a restored train depot with bathrooms and parking. The Blanchard dam and bridge over the Mississippi is the most breathtaking portion of the trail. There is a parking lot and trailhead at Hwy 10.
The trail is also close to the City of Little Falls and Charles Lindbergh State Park.
