The Paul Bunyan State Trail is 88.5 miles with 69.5 miles from Crow Wing State to Walker, and 19 miles from Lake Bemidji State Park through Bemidji to Guthrie. The final connection of the Bemidji to the Heartland trail will be completed in the summer for 2010.
The level, paved trail takes cyclists through one of Minnesota’s most popular vacation areas from Crow Wing State Park near Brainerd to Merrifield, Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Pine River, Backus, Hackensack and through the Chippewa National Forest.
The northern portion from Lake Bemidji State Park along the east side of Lake Bemidji to Bemidji and then to Guthrie will be connected to the southern portion in 2010 making the trail one of the longest in the state at 110 miles. DNR Site Link
