The Paul Bunyan State Trail is a level, paved trail extending 110 miles from Crow Wing State near Brainerd/Baxter north to Merrifield, Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Pine River, Backus, Hackensack through the Chippewa National Forest near Walker to La Porte and Guthrie and onto Bemidji ending at Lake Bemidji State Park.
It is a multi-use recreational system, or biking, roller blading and walking in the summer and snoiwmobiling in the winter.
Scenic trail crossing rivers, skirting lakes and wetlands and dotted with behemoth statues welcoming visitors to quaint trail towns.
Connections to Heartland State Trail and Mi-Gi-Zi Trail, trails to downtown Bemidji, Blue Ox Trail, Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Bikeway? and as an alternate route for the Mississippi River Trail. (Hyper-links to these additional trails could be included).
