The Mesabi Recreational Trail cuts through the heart of the Iron Range of North Central Minnesota stretching from Grand Rapids through Hibbing and Virginia to Eveleth.
Unlike most paved trails in the state that are straight, flat and on abandoned railroad bed, this trail zig-zags up and down hills as it skirts around piles of taconite tailing and ore, through pines and poplar trees, and past only a few houses and very little highway noise.
Cyclists will find the beauty and grandeur here that sets the Iron Range apart from most of the world. You can also take time out to tour a mine, a logging camp, or visit the childhoods of Judy Garland and Bob Dylan. Read more:
