Hardwood Creek/Sunrise Pra.

Hardwood Creek
The 8-mile-long Hardwood Creek Trail begins where the Sunrise Prairie Trail ends, so cyclists can pedal nearly 25 miles on one cycling excursion. Beginning just across the highway from the end of the Sunrise Prairie Trail in Forest Lake, the Hardwood Creek Trail ends in Hugo.
The trail ends in Hugo; there’s a parking area on the west side of the trail that you can use as a trailhead, but there are no toilets or water.

Sunrise Prairie
The 16.2-mile long Sunrise Prairie Trail, bathed in sunshine and skirting prairie lands, travels through some of the wide open areas north of the Metro area that blend developed and undeveloped lands. Although the trail is nestled between I-35 and Hwys. 30/61, road noise isn’t that much different than other paved trails.
The trailhead in North Branch is at the intersection of Hwys. 95 and 30 where there’s plenty of parking, several picnic tables and a spacious public bathroom that’s perfect for changing.
The trail takes off straight south; note all of the housing development in the city that lies between easy access to the Twin Cities as well as the St. Croix area. The trail and the highway soon take routes farther apart. Read more:
