Abandoned Mines Turned Outdoor Playground

The Cuyuna Lakes Country is a collection of active communities along what was once the rich Cuyuna iron ore mining range.

Today, it is the 5,000-acre Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area with a chain of crystal clear mine lakes perfect for scuba diving and fishing, 25 miles of top-notch, IMBA bronze level mountain bike trails, a pump track, seven miles of paved bike trail and miles of hiking, skiing and snowmobile trails.

Cuyuna Lakes Country offers a host of lodging options from cozy resorts, lodges, motels and guest rooms to rustic yurts and cabins for an outdoor getaway.

The Mississippi River Trail Bikeway (MRT) and the Great River Road National Scenic Byway run through the Cuyuna Lakes Country.
