The Tour da U.P. will roll out of Rapid River, MI on the morning of August 5thfor a 5-day ride through some of the most stunning scenery in the U.P. Right here in our backyard, this on-road cycling tour will make our way through the central U.P. and Hiawatha National Forest to the shores of Gitchie Gumee near Munising for the first leg of the tour. After a sunset boat ride or a cruise by the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, it will continue on to Marquette on August 6th for two nights. This will allow you explore all of the best that Marquette County has to offer, waterfalls, high points overlooking the lake, beautiful beaches and of course a sample of the downtown areas shops, restaurants and breweries.
Leaving Marquette on day 4 the tour takes an interesting country ride through Marquette County on to Eben Junction. The last day, August 9th will have the group returning to Rapid River. Each day's ride is between 50-60 miles with plenty of support vehicles along the route to help with everything from a mechanical breakdown, to snack and drink aid stations, to even offering a ride to tired riders. The pace tends to be a causal one that allows families and friends to ride at your own pace and take in the surroundings, meet cycling enthusiasts from around the country and feel good that you are helping others. So come on along to support programming at TFH that helps youth and families and pedal for a purpose!
