State Parks Tweeting

“While many of the state’s feathered friends are flying south, some new ‘tweeting’ is beginning as the Parks and Trails Division of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) begins providing updates on the social media site Twitter. The pilot is part of an ongoing effort to reach out to young families, whose participation in outdoor recreation has been declining in recent years,” according to a news release.

You can find them at www.twitter.com/mnstateparks and www.twitter.com/mnstatetrails.

“Twitter is a free online service that allows park naturalists and other staff to send short updates about state park and trail happenings. The messages are up to 140 characters in length and can contain hyperlinks to photos and other information. Messages can be sent as text messages to mobile phones, or they can be read at any computer with Internet access,” the release said.
